In most cases the treatment of any illness
begins with its diagnosis and the earlier that diagnosis is
reached, from the time of first pathogenesis or outset, the
better the clinical outcome for the patient. This means that
one needs to diagnose some conditions long before they become
recognisable by their signs and symptoms, clinical examination
or even in some cases radiological investigations in order
to affect a cure. Quality pathology services can do this because
of the built-in reliability of the results they provide which
in turn come from the standardised, quality controlled practices
they adhere too.
One of our immediate aims is to become the
first fully CPA (UK) (Clinical Pathology Accreditation,
United Kingdom ) accredited private pathology practice
in the Middle East .

Why a standardized, quality controlled laboratory?
Pathology is by far the most important infra-structural support foundation for all medical management. It provides or confirms the diagnosis of disease, it is the final auditor of all medical and treatment activities and it is the main source of all high-level medical research. In short any medical system that does not have an efficient Pathology system in place, cannot improve itself regardless of the financial expenditure provided.
It is important to recognize that accurate and standardized clinical testing also directly contributes to the control of healthcare costs. This cost control is mainly achieved by accurately targeting all treatment modalities once a precise diagnosis is reached, removing the cost of further treatment that would be needed if initial diagnosis was not accurate. This is of particular interest to the patient and to his/her physician, but is also important to all health insurance providers. Without exception, reliable, accredited and quality controlled test reporting will always be more cost-effective to all concerned in the long run.
CPS commissioned KPMG to perform an in-depth study of the existing services in the area in order to accurately identify the requirements of the local medical community with regards to pathology diagnostic services. This study pointed to the urgent need for the provision of well-organized and accredited pathology services in the region. |
